May 21, 2015
When Clarence Edison Fikes founded Fikes Wholesale, Inc. in 1952, he did so with a commitment to give back to his community. Mr. Fikes was deeply impacted by the support and inspiration that he received as a young man in his tight-knit community and it is with this premise in mind that Fikes Wholesale, Inc. continues to value corporate citizenship.
Fikes Wholesale, Inc. was founded as a single Texaco service station in Mr. Fikes' hometown of Cameron, Texas, where he would also later turn his attention to the wholesale fuel business. In 1979, retail fuel and grocery became the focus when he opened the first CEFCO Convenience Store. Today, CEFCO is the 30th largest convenience store chain in the United States.
As the company has grown and expanded, the reach and impact of C.E. Fikes' commitment to give back has also grown. Today The Fikes Companies serves as the parent company of five affiliate companies; Fikes Wholesale, Inc., CEFCO Convenience Stores, CORD Financial Services, Group Petroleum Services and J.F. Air Traffic. Located in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Florida, the company remains committed to the philanthropic values of C.E. Fikes by giving back to the communities they serve.
Before CEFCO in Niceville even opened its doors, The C.E. Fikes Scholarship Endowment was created. Named for the company's founder, the scholarship will be used to provide scholarship support for full-time students with first preference given to a student employed by the Fikes Companies or its affiliates.
