NICEVILLE, FL – Northwest Florida State College President Dr. Devin Stephenson and his wife Judy have pledged $15,000 to establish the Etta Stephenson Scholarship Endowment in honor of Dr. Stephenson’s mother.

At 92 years young, Etta Stephenson continues to serve full-time in her career role as an executive office specialist, and is recognized for her dedication and excellence. Etta possesses a strong work ethic and an exceptional commitment to excellence. She and her husband James instilled in their children Devin and MaLea that success in life comes from diligent pursuit of dreams, and the only acceptable level of accomplishment is one that is characterized with distinction and class.

As firm believers in the transforming power of education, Etta and James gave their children no choice but to continue in education beyond high school, ensuring that Devin’s graduate school tuition was paid for through the Master’s degree level and that MaLea was fully funded through her entire business school education. To this day, Etta continues to provide philanthropic support to her local junior college and its athletic program.

“Because of my mother’s dedication to the life-changing power of education, we are creating the Etta Stephenson Scholarship Endowment,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson. “Helping students succeed is our primary motivation. We view our work in the community college arena as a calling—a calling to make a difference.”

Unfailingly, the focus of the Stephensons’ labor is to help students achieve their educational and career goals and dreams. Through the creation of this unrestricted scholarship endowment, it is the Stephensons’ sincere hope that their scholarship will make a difference in the lives of Northwest Florida State College students for years to come!
