Wills Family establishes Chief Guy J. Wills Jr. Firefighter Scholarship Endowment/
NICEVILLE, FL – Northwest Florida State College Foundation Board Member Steve Wills and family members Kimi Wills and Guy Wills III have established the Chief Guy J. Wills Jr. Firefighter Scholarship Endowment with a combined donation of $15,000 in memory of Chief Guy J. Wills Jr.
Chief Guy J. Wills Jr. was born in Mount Ephraim, New Jersey and spent his early years in an area of northeast Philadelphia known as “Fishtown.” He entered the U.S. Air Force at the young age of 17 and served our nation honorably for 32 years. He proudly wore the firefighter badge his entire career and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from Eglin Air Force Base in 1984. Post Air Force, he joined the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District as the Fire Safety Officer in 1985 and earned the distinction of becoming the Ocean City-Wright Fire Chief in 1993. After serving as chief for 11 years, Chief Wills retired in 2004 having served our nation and community as a firefighter for more than 51 years.
Chief Wills’ wife Kimi and their two sons Guy and Steve are pleased to establish the Chief Guy J. Wills Jr. Scholarship endowment, and their sincere hope is to provide inspiration and financial assistance to those willing to take up the call. The Chief Guy J. Wills Jr. Endowment will provide scholarship support to NWFSC students with first preference being given to those enrolled in a program designed to prepare students for entry or advancement in the fire service or a related fire protection field.
“The Chief Guy Wills Jr. Firefighter Scholarship Endowment sets an exceptional example because it encourages those who believe in one’s profession to invest in its future,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, president of NWFSC. “This gift allows the College to train and prepare more individuals for public service as firefighters, and we extend our sincere gratitude to the Wills family.”
